Download All Submitted Files for Grading

If you do not want to open your students’ answers to file-upload questions in your browser, you can download students’ submitted files to your computer.

Note Do not download your students' answers until after the due date for the assignment has passed.

Files uploaded for Show My Work questions cannot be downloaded.

  1. Open the My Classes page.

    Click Classes > My Classes and find the section you want.

  2. Go to the roster of the section in which the student is currently enrolled.
    1. Click Classes > My Classes.
    2. Under the section the student is enrolled in, click Roster.
  3. Click scores beside the assignment.

    The Scores page displays scores for the selected assignment for all students currently enrolled in the section.

  4. Optional: If you don't want to grade all students' answers, select the students whose answers you want to grade.
  5. Click Grade Answers.
    • To grade all answers, set Questions to Grade All.

    • To grade one question at a time, select the ID of the question that you want to grade.

  6. Set Student Names to Show or Hide when grading.
  7. Click Start Grading.

    A student's answers are displayed in the Grade Answers page, along with the answer keys.

    Only answers to questions that can be graded are displayed.

  8. At the top of the Grade Answers page, click Download to download all student file submissions in .zip format.
  9. When prompted by your browser, choose to save the file and specify the file location.
  10. Extract the files to a location on your computer.
    Platform Steps
    Microsoft® Windows® Right-click the .zip file in Windows Explorer and select Extract All; then specify where you want to store the extracted files.
    macOS™/OS X® Double-click the file in Finder.
    Linux® Use the unzip command to extract the archive in your file manager.

    To ensure uniqueness, files extracted from the downloaded archive do not have the same filenames shown in the Grade Answers page.

  11. When you are done grading, return to WebAssign to enter scores and comments.
Note
If you are grading answers after the end of the course:
  • The class will be listed under Past Classes.
  • The assignment will be listed under Past Assignments.
  • Your students will all be listed as Dropped.
